A Manifesto for Liverpool

Mike Emmerich, a key figure behind Manchester’s successful bid for devolution, urged the Liverpool City Region to grasp their chance strike a similar deal with the government.
Speaking at Downtown Liverpool in Business’s ‘it’s Liverpool Business Conference’ at the Hilton Hotel, Emmerich was one of several high profile guests discussing the future of the city region at a well attended event.

“Nothing is unique about Manchester” said Mark. “A deal is open to every city and none more so than Liverpool.”
He also warned key decision makers; “The deal for Liverpool is there to be done but must be done on the right terms.”

Elaine Bowker, The City of Liverpool College Principal, spoke of the importance for Liverpool to have control over its education agenda, while Professor Michael Parkinson of the University of Liverpool reflected on what a potential deal would mean for Liverpool.

Clive Drinkwater from UKTI discussed how Liverpool can reclaim its place as a major exporter of products and services alongside head of Marketing Liverpool Chris Brown and Bill Addy of the Liverpool BID Company.
